It’s all systems go for the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental that will host this year’s Organic Farmers Festival at the Capitol Grounds this week, on the theme, “Rediscovering Culture and Tradition of Food for a Sustainable Future”.
Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Vice Gov. Eugenio Jose Lascon will give messages, at the opening program 10 a.m. Thursday, a press release from the Capitol said.
Expected guests are Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, Undersecretary for Special Concerns of the National Organic Agriculture Board, who will be the keynote speaker; Gov. Rodel Degamo of Negros Oriental; Director Dennis Miralles, Domestic Marketing Department of the Bureau of Investments; and Director Larry Nacionales of the Department of Agriculture, Region VI, among others.
The festival is in cooperation with Organic na Negros! Organic Producers and Retailers Association, Negros Island Sustainable Agriculture for Rural Development, Department of Education, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, Deparment of Agrarian Reform, Sugar Regulatory Administration, Bureau of Plant Industry, Department of Trade and Industries, and Bureau of Investments.
There will also be a Dinner for a Cause on the opening day of the festival, with proceeds intended for relief efforts for Typhoon Yolanda victims, the press release added.*
