Thirteen industries have been identified by the Department of Labor and Employment and its partner as the country’s key employment generators.
These are agribusiness, construction, information technology/business process management, health and wellness; hotel, restaurant and tourism, wholesale and retail trade; banking and finance, mining, transport and logistics, manufacturing, ownership, dwellings and real estate, education, and power and utilities, a press release from DOLE said.
It also identified 237 in-demand occupations that include accountant, appraiser, cashier, checker, driver, machine operator, mechanical technician, security guard, teller, and welder.
DOLE also said 138 occupations that are hard-to-fill are those for chemist, CNC machinist, computer programmer, geologist, heavy equipment operator, medical technologist, Pharmacist, and surveyor, the press release said.*
