‘Baywalk almost certain
to operate for MassKara’

It is almost certain that the Bacolod Baywalk and Entertainment Place will be granted a special permit to operate at the Reclamation Area for the MassKara festivities, Bacolod City Administrator Rolando Villamor said yesterday.

Villamor said he believes the permit may have been granted by the Mayor to Baywalk already since it will be opening on Friday.

He earlier relayed to the representative of Baywalk the desire of Mayor Monico Puentevella to operate the establishment only for the duration of the MassKara Festival.

Rebidding needed for
garbage collection

The chairman of the Bids and Awards Committee said there is a need for the city to conduct a re-bidding for the garbage collection once the contract of Metrowaste Solidwaste Management Corporation with the city government ends.

Gerome Solinap, BAC chairman and General Services Office head, however, said the city government could still extend the contract of Metrowaste but on a short term basis only.

But to avoid controversy, he would prefer to have another bidding.
