Bacolod policemen should be
role models, Bataoil says

BY SHIELA GELERA

Former PNP spokesperson and now Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil (Pangasinan, 2nd District), yesterday said policemen in Bacolod City should remain truthful and be good role models to colleagues and civilians.

Bataoil issued the statement after some Bacolod police station chiefs were alleged to have been receiving grease money from operators of the illegal numbers game “jai alai”.

“Whether it is true or not, it (receipt of grease money) is still eroding the image of the PNP,” Bataoil said.

He said the BCPO should address the issue fairly.

Former Criminal Investigation and Detection Group national head, Samuel Pagdilao, who used to be a director of the Negros Occidental Police, said, “Nobody is above the law, if you do an anomaly, our government will give you the right punishment.”

The two visited Bacolod City yesterday after they attended a hearing of the House Committee on Public Safety and Order in Iloilo City.*SGG
