Barotac routs Dumaguete
in Group F opening match

Poised to advance into the next round and gain a slot in the national finals, Camella Barotac Nuevo FC displayed their strength and overwhelmed the Dumaguete Azucals, 8-3, as the Group F elimination of the PFF-Smart National Club Championship that opened yesterday at the North Football Field in Talisay City.

Ernie Lazarte exposed the weak side of Dumaguete's defense as he opened the scoring for Barotac team, three minutes into the game, and again in the 24 th minute to put the Ilonggos ahead at 2-0.

The Azucals tried to stop the Ilonggos from turning the match into a blowout but Stephen Tañedo still slipped through the defense and booted in Barotac's third goal in the 41 st minute.

Absolute beats Summit
in Fil-Sino AB cagefest

Absolute Drinking Water shattered the cloak of invincibility of Summit Water, 91-87, in the Filo-Sino Asia Brewery Inc. Inter-Color Basketball Tournament at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Summit can still take the top spot at the end of the elimination if it wins its last game, otherwise, Absolute will be No. 1. as it ended its elimination round campaign with five wins and two losses.

Absolute overcame a 44-36 halftime deficit and leaned on Arnol Laureño's 23 second half points to will them to victory.

Truckers edges YBAC B
in President's Cup tourney

The Bacolod Truckers and YBAC-B scored opening victories against separate opponents at the opening of the Your Basketball Inter-Color Basketball Tournament President's Cup at the West Negros University gym, a press release from YBAC said.

Gherson Sipe and Marlon Caballero scored 13 and 12 points, respectively, to lead the Truckers as they squeaked past YBAC White, 82-80.

Caballero anchored the Truckers offense for 24-18 lead in the first quarter while YBAC White bounced back in the second canto to outscore Truckers, 16-15. Truckers remained ahead, 41-34, at halftime.
