MassKara bowlfest title

Top players from duckpin bowling clubs in the country will arrive in Bacolod City starting today for the October 8 -12 Masskara National Open Invitational Duckpin Bowling Championship at the at the New Top’s Millennium Plaza Alley in Bacolod City.

The tournament hosted by the Active Solid Strikers Fellowship Bowlers Inc., is sanctioned by the Philippine Duckpin Bowling Council and offers P.2 million in cash prizes and trophies for the top three winners in the team and individual single competition, and the tournament record holders.

Try-outs for the qualifying phase in the team and single competitions will be from 1 p.m. today to October 11, while the semi-final and championship rounds will be on October 12 starting at 1 p.m.

The opening rites will be on October 10 at 2 p.m. with ASSFBI president Cecil Ramon Silverio delivering the welcome remarks, Mayor Monico Puentevella and Philippine Duckpin Bowling Council president Inez Magbual are also invited.

Only the top three teams in the elimination rounds in both men and women’s division will advance to the final round.

ASSFBI chairman Edgar Allan Del Rosario said personal balls are allowed, provided they conform to the prescribed weight and size set by PHIDBC.

He also said players shall wear their official team uniform (same color and design) of the club they are representing or else five pins will be deducted from their actual score.

Prizes are P35,000 in gift certificates and a trophy for the champion in the men’s category, and P20,000 and P10,000 for first and second runners-up.

The champion in the women’s division will receive P30,000 and a trophy.

The first and second runners-up will receive P20,000 and P10,000, respectively.

At stake in the singles event in the men and women’s bracket is P12,000 and a trophy for the champion; P9,000 and P7,000 for the first and second runners-up.

The individual top qualifier and highest single record holders will also receive cash prizes.

Registration fee for team try-outs in the qualifying phase is P1,800 and another P1,800 in the semi-final rounds.
