Lady Stingers keep crown
in NOPSSCEA volleyball

University of St. La Salle women’s volleyball team retained the title in Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association women’s volleyball by sweeping the double round elimination Sunday at the USLS College covered court.

The Lady Stringers defeated University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, 25-11, 25-19 and 25-23.

The Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod finished first runner-up after its convincing victory last week against UNO-R in five sets, 25-22, 25-12, 23-25, and 15-12.

CSA-B also beat UNO-R after five sets in the elimination round, 21-25, 25-19, 20-25, 22-12 and 15-11.

In the men’s division, the CSA-B Eagles beat defending champion USLS Stingers in five sets, 20-25, 25-20, 15-25, 25-13 and 15-13 Saturday.

Despite the loss, USLS still topped the standing with 10 points. The Eagles claimed the second spot even if it tied with the UNO-R Rams with seven points each, after edging the Rams in statistics.

The three teams will clash again this weekend at the start of Page System finals.

The UNO-R Rams will face the West Negros University Mustangs on Sunday with the loser to place fourth, while the winner goes up against the loser between the Stingers and the Eagles.*PNA
