2nd District pugs book semis seat
in Negros First boxing tournament

Eight young boxers from the 2nd District of Negros Occidental beat their opponents yesterday to advance into the semifinals of the 4th Negros First Gov. Alfredo G. Marañon, Jr. Boxing Championship at the La Carlota City gym.

Of the eight semifinalists from the second district, six are from Cadiz City while two are from Sagay City.

Yesterday’s impressive performance registered by the pugs from Cadiz and Sagay dampened the opening day six-win surge of the first district.

Among those who posted an impressive win yesterday was Cadiz City’s Arman Alpar, who knocked down Murcia’s Elmer Liboon in the 52 kgs. of the elite category in 0.13seconds of the first round.

His fellow Cadiznon fighter Crisante Caballero also scored a TKO with 1.05 seconds of the third round against Joshua Bartolome of Moises Padilla in the kids category 26 kgs. while Joni Alcoran scored a TKO a second into the third round against Sipalay’s Dexter Garinga in the school boys’ 36 kgs.

Those who won by points were Michael Adolfo over Murcia Jonel Francisco in the kids category 28 kgs. and Ernie De La Cruz against Leonil Ermeo of Bago City via walkover in the 52 kgs of the youth boy’s category.*NAB
