Several business firms assisted by the Department of Science and Technology under the agency's Small Enterprises Technology Upgrading Program will join the Visayas-wide three-day Science and Technology Fair at SM City in Iloilo next week, DOST Region 6 Director Rowen Gelonga, said in a statement yesterday.
The fair that has the theme: “Science, Technology and Innovation: The Way to a Smarter Visayas”, will run from October 16 to 18 and will showcase scientific innovations of the micro, small and medium enterprises, Gelonga said.
There will also be exhibits to be led by DOST national officials and representatives from its Regional offices in Central, Eastern and Central Visayas, he said, adding that a forum on how technologies help grow the businesses of MSMEs will be held.
The DOST Science and Technology Information Institute-developed Science and Technology Academic and Research based openly operated kiosk station, a digital science library equipped with latest science and technology information, journals and researches fir for today's learners will also be tackled, Gelonga also said.
The forum will also be a venue for the discussion on the significance of the monitoring and operating system for emergency services and the nationwide operational assessment of hazards survival kit as part of its initiative to boost disaster risk reduction campaign, he added.*APN
