Kiwanis induction tonight
The new officers of Kiwanis Club of Metro Bacolod will be inducted at 6 tonight at the grand ballroom of Planta Hotel in Bacolod City, by Lt. Governor Francis Kabristante, with District Governor Gabrielito Prado as guest speaker, a press release from the club said.
To be sworn into office are Pacita Calvez, president; Rolando Villamor, president-elect; Eva Taghap, vice president; Maritess Era, secretary, and Amelia Montinola, treasurer; Aladino Agbones, Archie Baribar, Donato Cruz, Francisco Cruz, Babylin Drilon, Corazon Galon, Virgines Gumahin, Bernardo Mendoza Jr. and Ivan Nemenzo, as members of the Board of Directors, the press release also said.
New members of the club who will also be inducted are Roestel Militante, Margie Militante, Rulan Acero Zamora, Sally Abelarde, Ma. Theresa Galon, Emmanuel Rectra, Leonard Figueroa, Rene Ordoñez, Jocelyn Simon, Ruth Uy, Marcial Lindayao and Dorothy Abalos.
The club members are Joy Barbasa, Jose Decolongon, Cherryl Flores, Nenita Gabrido, Allan Vir Gumahin, Elma Gumahin, Maritess Gumahin, Gilda Lluisma, Rosario Marzo, Maricel Miranda, Sebastian Merin, Vicente Pettiere, Warlito Rosareal, Rodolfo Salazar Jr., Cheryl Seow, Renato Uy, Joe Wu, and Adrian Mag-alasin, the press release said.
Bacold City Administrator Rolando Villamor and director Aladino Agbones will deliver the welcome address and acknowledge the guests, respectively, the press release added.*HLG

Ramos reunion meet held
The group in charge of the preparations for the reunion of the Ramos Clan in Bacolod on November 30 held its eighth meeting yesterday at the new branch of Chicken House at the Capitol Shopping Center in Bacolod City.
Descendants of the Ramos family which is among the oldest in Bacolod and Negros Occidental now include several other families whose ancestors have married into it and have established themselves in various establishments, aside from occupying key political positions.
The reunions were initially organized in the 1980s by patriarchs Dr. Romulo Ramos and Simplicio Ramos. Heading the organizing group now is Mercy Ramos Chua.
The group is calling on other clan members to join them in the next meeting to finalize plans scheduled at The Chalet of L'Fisher Hotel on Oct. 22.*

Most Holy Rosary
The Feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, the secondary patron of the Diocese of Bacolod, will be observed Sunday, with Bishop Vicente Navarra presiding over a concelebrated mass, 10 a.m. at the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City.
The Diocese will also hold the procession of the Image of the Most Holy Rosary around the parochial territory of the Cathedral at 5 p.m., that will be participated in by the vicariates of Bata, Camingawan, Sum-ag, Villamonte and San Antonio Abad. Lay associations, schools and seminaries have been invited to join the procession, a press release from the church said.
The Feast will end with the Coronation of the Image of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary at the Bacolod public plaza. Mayor Monico Puentevella will pray the Act of Consecration during the Coronation, the press release also said.
As part of the celebration, the Nine Day (novena) masses in honor of the Our Lady started October 4 at 5:15 p.m., together with the celebration of the Living Rosary, also at the public plaza, every 4 p.m., the press release added.*

gather in city today
Volunteers from all over Negros will gather in Bacolod City today for the first Volunteer's Day in line with the celebration of the MassKara Festival, a press release from organizers said.
The activity, aims to honor and pay tribute to all volunteers, and will start with a caravan from the Bacolod City Government Center at 2 p.m., followed by a symposium at 3 p.m., candle lighting at the government center fountain area at 6 p.m., budol fight at 7 a.m. and volunteers cultural night at 8 p.m., it said.
Expected to attend are representatives of rescue teams, fire brigades, barangay security, traffic, artist group, environment and the media, the release said.
Ma. Soledad Alquizar, a volunteer for Resilient Initiative for Sustainable Community, said their objectives are to unite all volunteers all over the province and establish a Negros United Volunteer's Community.*CGS
