Fernando takes lead
at Rivera Classic golf

MANILA - Mhark Fernando pulled off a big victory yesterday with a three-under 68 for a three-stroke lead at the P2 million ICTSI Rivera Classic at the Riviera Golf and Country Club designed by Germany's golf great Bernhard Langer in Silang, Cavite.

Amidst threatening rain and wind, Fernando saw himself hitting three birdies at the back that anchored his 35-33 card for a 36-hole aggregate of four –under 138.

“There's wind but not as strong that's why I was able to score,” said Fernando, who improved a bit with a bogey on the par-4 No. 1 on Wednesday when he double-bogeyed in the first round of the 72-hole championship organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc.

MassKara celebration

The De La Salle University Green Archers men's basketball team, champion in the 2013 UAAP season, will be in Bacolod City this weekend to join in the MassKara celebration.

Among the members of the champion squad are Bacoleños Luis Alfonso Revilla and Kib Montalbo, who honed their skills in local tournaments including the annual NOPSSCEA games.

The 5-foot-7 Revilla has established himself as one of the ace point guards in the UAAP as he led the Green Archers in the assist department in the 2012 season with an average of 2.8 assist per game.
