Doña Nena's Big Day

The 88 th birthday celebration recently of Doña Nena de Leon in Bacolod City was a grand one attended by hundreds of her friends and admirers.

Her five children and their families, were there and so were relatives, business associates, swimming barkadas, and dancing group mates, who were all warmly welcomed by the celebrator herself.

A thanksgiving mass officiated by Fr. Felix Pasquin started the celebration. A selection of mouthwatering dishes and dessert was enjoyed by guests. The DAILY STAR group shared a table with Lina Lim, that was near the dancing hall, so we had a clear view of the performances of the Ambiance Group.

Everyone enjoyed watching the dance numbers that were all very good, the most applauded of which was the Argentine Tango of dance tutor Edgard Gallo and dance sports champion Shandel Revalez, followed by Kim and John Pines who danced the cha-cha, samba and rumba.

The celebrator then showed her own dance moves with her son, and several dancing enthusiasts joined them. At her age, Doña Nena can dance all kinds of modern swings and grooves. We really enjoyed watching her on the floor. It was really a night for Doña Nena, who at 88, is still swinging and dancing.

To dear Tita Nena, God bless, good health and may you have many more birthday candles to blow.*

Remember: The Bible tells us all we need to know so we can do what God wants us to do. When temptation knocks, send Jesus to the door.
