DA hails Negros Occidental
as top organic agri performer

Negros Occidental was given the Top Performing Province in Organic Agriculture Program Implementation Award Thursday as a highlight of the 10 th National Organic Agriculture Congress held Oct. 17-19 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila, a press release from the Capitol said.

Fourth district Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Victor Javellana, chair of the SP Committee on Agriculture, and Engr. Igmedio Tabianan, chief of the Provincial Agriculturist's Office, received the award and the P3 million cash prize on behalf of Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr.

Negros Occidental, that was cited as the top performer in organic agriculture for the Visayas cluster, shared centerstage with the rice-producing province, Nueva Ecija, the awardee for Luzon, and the diversified Agusan del Sur in Mindanao, the press release said.

Fastcraft operators
postpone fare hike

Fastcraft operators in Western Visayas have decided to postpone the planned P10 to P20 increase in fare until the first week of November, Frank Carbon, manager of Weesam Express fastcraft, said yesterday.

Carbon said they were supposed to have the increase this month but postponed it because of the ongoing MassKara celebration.

While fastcraft operators have already agreed to go for the fare hike, the Roll-On, Roll-Off vessel operators apparently are not joining, he said.

CENECO orients suppliers

Central Negros Electric Cooperative Inc. recently conducted an orientation for its suppliers at the 3 rd floor of the CENECO Annex Building.

The activity was led by Hernani Veniegas Jr., chief of Asset Management Division, Cherish Mae Millevo, head of Procurement Section, Alberto Baccarro Jr., head of Warehousing Section, and Victor Rada, committee chair on Accreditation and officer-in-charge of the Finance Department, a press release from the coop said.

Attendees included representatives from LMS Electrical Supply Inc., Hardy Marketing Enterprises, MF Computer Solution, IEC Computers, R-Spec Parts Marketing, Chemical Alloy Corporation, AC Parts, Panorama Printing, DELCOM Systems and Solutions, Chemtrust Industrial, and BK Squared Enterprises, the press release said.*
