Fastcraft operators
postpone fare hike

Fastcraft operators in Western Visayas have decided to postpone the planned P10 to P20 increase in fare until the first week of November, Frank Carbon, manager of Weesam Express fastcraft, said yesterday.

Carbon said they were supposed to have the increase this month but postponed it because of the ongoing MassKara celebration.

While fastcraft operators have already agreed to go for the fare hike, the Roll-On, Roll-Off vessel operators apparently are not joining, he said.

He added that they have already informed the Maritime Industry Authority about the planned fare hike and have been given the “green light”.

If the fare increase pushes through, the economy class seats of the fastcrafts will hit P355 to P360 while those for business class will be P435 to P440.

There are now five RORO vessel and three fastcraft operators in Western Visayas.*APN
