PLO airs opinion
on hazard pay

A legal opinion issued by the Negros Occidental Provincial Legal Office states that the Provincial Health Office personnel are entitled to hazard allowance, officers of the Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees said yesterday.

PACE officers Renelo Lastierre and Dino Gasendo said PHO office workers are entitled to hazard pay equivalent to their basic pay, while those actually working with patients are entitled to 25 percent, he said.

Hazard pay is an additional compensation for performing hazardous duties and for enduring physical hardships in the course of performance of duty, he said.

Meanwhile, the PLO said the grant of subsistence allowance will be governed by a Joint Circular.*
