The Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office received 203 Glock-17 pistols from the Police Regional Office-6 at turnover rites held at the Camp Alfredo Montelibano in Bacolod City yesterday.
Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, Western Visayas regional director, who led the turnover of the pistols to NOPPO provincial director, Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan, said policemen should have the skills in handling the firearm to use it effectively.
The new generation pistols will be given to policemen in Negros Occidental. These are, to Bago City – 23, Cadiz City – 23, Escalante City – 19, Himamaylan City – 20, Kabankalan City – 19, La Carlota City – 20, Sagay City – 12, San Carlos City – 16, Silay City – 8, Sipalay City – 17, Talisay City – 10, Victorias City – 14, and Binalbagan town – 2.

A 9-year-old cooperative based in Negros Occidental was named outstanding small enterprise in the Agribusiness Sector during the Productivity Olympics 2013 spearheaded by the National Wages and Productivity Commission at the Century Park Hotel in Manila Thursday.
The San Rafael Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose cooperative based in Murcia town, Negros Occidental bested 12 others from other regions and bagged a trophy and P100,000 in cash prize.
Starting as a group of land reform beneficiaries, SRARBMPC, is one of the cooperatives under the Self Reliant Organizations Project of Comprehensive Agrarian Reform program and the Department of Labor and Employment, Director Ponciano Ligutom of DOLE Region 6, said.
