UAAP, CESAFI squads spice
up q’ finals match-ups

All roads for sports followers lead to University of St. La Salle this weekend as the top teams in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines and the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. eye the final seats in men’s basketball and women’s volleyball.

Unigames defending champion and UAAP 76 Season semifinalist National University Bulldogs will face host USLS at 8 a.m. today in the second day of the quarterfinals of men’s basketball, followed by the match-up between University of Sto. Tomas and Ateneo de Manila University (Team A) in the second game at 9:30 a.m.

Cesafi’s champion University of Visayas will tackle fellow Cebu-based team University of San Carlos at 11a .m., while NOPSSCEA defending champion West Negros University Mustangs will play against Ateneo’s Team B at 1:30 p.m. All games will be played at the USLS Coliseum

Winners in today’s matches will advance to the semifinals tomorrow starting at 9:30 a.m..

In women’s volleyball, last year’s bronze medalist Adamson University will play against Southwestern University at 9 a.m., followed by the match-up between USLS and UST at 10:30 a.m.

In the afternoon, Far Eastern University women’s volleyball team will face University of the Philippines-Diliman, while Unigames defending champion De La Salle University will try to get past the twin towers of NU, the Santiago sisters, at 4 p.m.

Meanwhile, to accommodate the audience in today’s volleyball matches, Unigames officials announced yesterday that a wide screen will be set up near the USLS College Covered Court to decongest the crowd at the playing venue.

The organizers also said that semifinals championship matches in basketball at the USLS Coliseum will be ticketed at P20 per person.*NAB
