Most WV labor disputes
from Neg. Occ. – DOLE

Negros Occidental had the most number of labor disputes in Western Visayas from October last year until last month, records from the Department of Labor and Employment Region 6 showed yesterday.

Of the 435 labor cases filed before the National Labor Relations Commission, 279 came from Negros Occidental, DOLE-6 records also showed.

Only 247 of the cases from Negros Occidental, or about 88.5 percent, have been settled through mediation.

‘Half rice' for
menus pushed

The National Food Authority is requesting the Bacolod City Government, through the Sangguniang Panlungsod, to pass an ordinance requiring the food service industry in the province to include half-rice serving in their menu, in support of the campaign of the Department of Agriculture to promote the responsible consumption of the staple.

NFA provincial manager Procopio Trabajo ll said the campaign is embodied in Proclamation No. 494 signed by President Benigno Aquino lll.

In his letter to Vice Mayor Greg Gasataya, dated September 11 Trabajo said half-rice servings will be mandatory in the menu of restaurants and other eateries, but would be optional to customers.

Candles' SRP out

The Department of Trade and Industry issued a list of suggested retail prices for candles as it continues to monitor its price and supply in the market a week before the observance of All Saints Day.

The SRP list includes different variants of candle from major manufacturers in the country, a press release from the government said.

A 20-piece pack of white Liwanag Esperma # 3 is P 43.75, while Liwanag Esperma # 5 is P 60.75.

The larger 4-pc pack of Liwanag Esperma # 24 is P 122.75.
