Tigresses prevail in overtime
to win women's basketball title

The University of Sto. Tomas Growling Tigers fell short of their quest for the title in men's basketball but their women counterpart, the Tigresses, made up for it by nipping Adamson University Lady Falcons, 79-78 in overtime, to capture the championship in the women's basketball of the 18 th FilOil-University Games at the St. La Salle Coliseum yesterday in Bacolod City.

Surging to a seven-point lead in the first quarter at 20-13, the Tigresses momentarily lost the momentum as the Lady Falcons clawed their way back into the game and grabbed the lead, 32-33, at halftime.

Trading shots in the second half, Adamson held on to a one-point lead at the end of the third quarter, 50-49, but the Tigresses managed to tie the score at 66-all at the end of regulation to forge an overtime and eventually, sealed the win with a one-point margin at the final buzzer.
