POEA implements no-gift policy

Since the “ber” months have started, where some Filipinos begin to send gifts to people to show their appreciation, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration has reminded private individuals and companies transacting with the agency to shun giving gifts to their officials and employees, a government press release said.

Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac, in a memorandum addressed to private recruitment agencies, suppliers, contractors and other parties were advised that the “no gift policy” has been implemented.

He said the order is a reiteration of the policy stipulated in the memorandum issued on November 12, 2012.

“This means that the any gift, in cash or in kind, for our officials and employees including casual and contractual personnel coming from your end will not be accepted…” the memorandum stated.

The order added that the no-gift policy is in compliance with the following directives: Republic Act 6713 (Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards For Public Officials and Employees) and DOLE Administrative No. 476, Series of 2010 (Code of Conduct for DOLE Officials and Employees).

Cacdac said that those found accepting gifts will face disciplinary action.*PNA
