Summit posts 3rd win in
Fil-Sino basketball

Summit Mineral Water rolled to its third victory by routing Creamy Delight Pasteurized Yogurt, 96-69, while Colt 45 scored a 79-75 win over Tanduay Black in the Fil-Sino Asia Brewery Inc. Inter-Color Basketball Tournament at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym, Monday night.

A 50-31 lead at halftime for Summit underscored the one-sided match-up in the first two quarters as seven Summit players scored with Kieron Tan and Daniel Chiu delivering eight points each.

Creamy Yogurt showed some life in the third quarter behind the trio of RB Chua, Ralph Ong and Clarence Quingco, who pooled their efforts to cut Summit’s lead at 64-56.

But the rally was short-lived as Yogurt failed to contain the offensive juggernaut of Summit as Daniel Chiu drilled in three triples, while Emil Guanzon scored eight points and Kieron Tan added six markers as Summit sizzled for 32 quarter points against the 1-point output from Yogurt.

Former La Salle Stinger dead shot Daniel Chiu paced Summit with 17 points, Ritchie Militante picked up 15., Tan shot 14, Guanzon tallied 13 points, Johann Villanueva had 9 and Tide Rogacion chipped in 7 points.

Creamy Yogurt got their offense from RB Chua with 13 points and Ralph Ong hitting 12 points.

Meanwhile, Colt 45 never looked back after a 21-17 lead against Tanduay Black in the first quarter as Robbie Jalando-on fired all his 11 points in the quarter.

Colt’s inside game proved to be too much for Tanduay Black as Ching San Su was left wide open to connect with three 3 triples en route to a 45-31 Colt 45 halftime lead.

Tanduay bounced back in the second half and outscored Colt 45 in the next two quarters, but failed to pile up enough points to grab the lead.

The absence of center Daniel Ong, who had to leave the game after the first quarter, proved to be a key factor for Tanduay’s board control. Colt 45, even with its poor offense, outrebounded Tanduay at both ends of the court giving them more offensive possessions.

Marc Lo paced a balance Colt 45 offensive with 13 points while Luigi Coo added 12 points, all in the second half. Chibon Uy shot 10 points, Popoy Chua had 8, and Derek Sibug finished with 6 points.

Jose Miguel Montinola scored 18 points in a losing effort, Ryan Alegario and Johnnyson Yu finished with 9 points, Ton Ton Chua made 8, Supt. Rosales had 7 points.*
