VG echoes call for
RPA talks closure

Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday said he supports the call of Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. to hasten the closure agreement to the peace talks between the government and the Rebolusyonaryong Partido ng Manggagawa-Pilipinas/Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade.

On Wednesday, Marañon said he scolded Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process representatives for the delay in the signing of the closure agreement, which they had promised last year yet.

“I think it was proper for the governor to call the attention of OPAPP that we want a closure for this peace process and, hopefully, there will be a positive closure…we are all one in wanting the fast-tracking of the process for peace,” Lacson said.

“The peace talks with the RPA-ABB have been going on for so many years now, we all want a solution, any delay is really unjustified,” Lacson said.

Most of the RPA-ABB troops are in Negros Island.

The peace talks between the government and the RPM-P/RPA-ABB began in December 2000 under the administration of then President Joseph Estrada.*CPG
