5 Silay entries nominees for
annual tourism awards

Five entries of Silay City for the 14 th Pearl Award: ATOP-DOT Best Tourism Practices of the Philippines are among the 2013 nominees.

This was confirmed by Kenneth Benignos, secretariat head of the Committee on Awards and Citation, and Miguel Sison, president of the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines, a press release from Silay City said.

The Silay entries are: Best Tourism Oriented LGU, Hukyaw Kansilay: Festival Category (City level), Tourism Month Celebration, Christmas Village: Culture and Arts Category (City Level) and Most Outstanding Tourism Office of the Philippines Severino Pacete (tourism officer of Silay City).

Mayor Jose Montelibano said the collective efforts of the Silaynons in public-private partnership in tourism paid off because ATOP and DOT have come to recognize the flagship programs in tourism that have been institutionalized in Silay City.

Awards Night will be on October 4, at Legaspi City, Albay, during the ATOP Annual Conference and Election of Officers.*
