IDC, USLS split top honors
in Bro. Ceci Invitational tilt

Iloilo Doctors College men’s team beat University of St. La Salle in three straight sets, 25-21, 25-19, and 25-23 to capture the title, while the Lady Stingers claimed the crown in the women’s division by overpowering University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, 25-7, 25-15 and 25-18 as the three-day volleyball spectacle in Class A men and women’s division of the 5th Bro. Ceci Invitational Volleyball Tournament ended yesterday at the USLS College Covered Court.

The visiting men’s team from Iloilo advanced into the championship yesterday after topping the single round-robin elimination with a dominant performance against Roxas City’s Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion, 25-16, 25-8, and 25-10, and against UNO-R, 25-17, 25-20, and 25-20.

Stingers post two wins in
NOPSSCEA cagefest

The University of St. La Salle Stingers drew first blood as they clobbered last year’s runner-up University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Rams, 87-64, in the opening of the men’s basketball tournament of the NOPSSCEA 33rd Season started at the West Negros Gym, Saturday.

With their balanced offensive all throughout the four quarters, the Stingers kept the Rams at bay and sealed the win in the final canto with Mark De la Cruz leading the surge with 18 points, while Kevin Rey Villafranca backed him up with 14 markers and Jasper Jay adding 12 points.

The Rams tried to keep pace with the Stingers but their efforts faltered along the way. Francis John Parreño topscored for the UNO-R team with 16 points, while Cris Jan Dayumat tallied 11 points.

Top 3 teams to dispute
Newsboy bowlfest title

The championship of the 3rd Newsboy Double Open Bowling Tournament will be held tonight at the Lopue’s East Bowling Centre in Bacolod City where the top three teams with the highest score will be declared winners.

The top seed will get P5,000, and the second and third placers P3,000 and P2,000, respectively.

The MDM Team composed of Melot “D Silencer” Alimon, Dan Corcelles and Mae Memoracion is on top with a total score of 1,388 points. JJ Squad and 78 Stars are second and third with 1,368 and 1,365.
