Murcia fighters rule
3rd District slugfest

Young boxers from Murcia town dominated the 3rd District qualifier and will advance into the finals round of the Negros First Gov. Alfredo G. Marañon Jr. Boxing Cup set on October 9-13, 2013 in La Carlota City.

In the kids category, Murcia’s Melino Flores, Junel Francisco, and Charyl Tison will EB Magalona’s Remart Soledad in the championship round.

Three Murcia boxers were also picked in the school boy’s 13-14 years old category with Jenrick Lescano seeing action in the 36kgs., Rene Alimasag in the 38 kgs., and Raggie Escalona in the 44 kgs. after they prevailed over their opponents in the qualifying round held last week in Talisay City.

Gedione Nietes along with fellow Murciahanons Joseph Dizon, Michael Pajarillo, John Lorence Cueva, Mark Anthony Belenson, and Jeffrey Belen, will be teaming up with Nonito Villan Jr. of EB in the Magalona in the junior boys’ 15-16 years old category in the championship round.

Also suiting up for the 3rd District contingent in the final round are Ernesto Alera, Eleasar Nietes, and Rommel Bael, all from Murcia, along with Kenneth Ocon of Talisay for the youth boys’ 17-18 years old category.

Hurdling the qualifying round in the elite boys’ category were Murcia boxers Roger Villarosa, Robert Atis, Redan Retero, and Thomas Rebusit.

The qualifiers from the 3rd District will be competing against the winners from the different areas in the province for the championship in La Carlota City next month.*NAB
