Tipon calls for
action vs. ‘pork’

Tipon Negrosanon-Pork Barrel Untaton, a convergence of concerned Negrenses calling for the abolition of the Priority Development Assistance Fund, has issued a call to action at 3 p.m. on Friday.

Tipon issued the call on its Facebook page but said details will be announced soon.

A  "Forward March #Abolishpork" protest  is also set at the Luneta Park on Friday, starting with an ecumenical service at 3 p.m. followed by a cultural program and  a "Rock and Rage Against the Pork" concert at 6 p.m., it organizers said.

The Promotion of Church People's Response-Negros in a statement yesterday also called for the scrapping  of the pork barrel fund, jailing of the  plunderers, and for  justice for all victims of social injustice.

The recent litanies of corruption have  sent a strong message to all Filipinos to be vigilant and to stand their ground against those who squander people's money, it said.

Those who betrayed the people's trust must pay to the fullest extent of the law, PCPR-Negros said.

In solidarity with our poor brothers and sisters who are victims of social injustices, the PCPR said it  challenges those who are in  government to live life in simplicity and in humility, putting an end to the unquenchable desires to amass wealth even in disgraceful manner.

For them to avoid the seething rage of the mass movements they must confess their sins against the people and name those who are still hiding, PCPR-Negros said.

PCPR Negros said it  condemns to the highest degree Janet Lim Napoles, et al., for masterminding this act of terror against the poor and to the House of Congress who had had the hand in this “unutterable horror”.

“The situations unfolding before our very eyes unveil the true nature and motives of our present government system. The time will come and now has come, as our government reveals its demons, to advance in a higher level our agenda for social transformation,” PCPR added.*CPG
