IP children join tour

The educational tour of the Philippine Army based in Negros Oriental benefited 51 pupils of Sitio Cantombol Elementary School in Barangay Canggohob, Mabinay town in the province recently, a press release from the Army said.

The pupils, who are children of indigenous peoples of Negros, were toured around historical landmarks and major institutions in Dumaguete City, and in a mall where they were given food and access to the gaming section, the press release also said.

Members of the Anti-Child Labor Council also held a lecture and informed the pupils of their rights, and the forms of child labor and abuse.

The tour was initiated by the 79th Infantry (Masaligan) Battalion, 302nd Infantry (Achiever) Brigade, the Negros Oriental Children Advocacy Network, Department of Education, Dumaguete City Tourism Office and local government units of Negros, the press release added.*
