Her husband just died
and she’s partying

Dear Tita,

Our son, Mario, married Thelma, a single mom, who was very much younger than he. We were against the marriage from the start as we already heard a lot of unpleasant things about Thelma: how she cheated on the father of her son which caused him to leave her and how she goes out partying often, leaving her little boy with her poor, old asthmatic mother, who really shouldn’t have to take care of the boy in her condition.

But despite our objections, Mario was determined to marry her as he said he loved her very much. The wedding was a big affair which made Thelma and her friends very happy. They bought a lovely house in a nice subdivision as Thelma wanted to impress her friends, and Mario couldn’t say no to his young bride.

After a few months later, we noticed a change in Mario. He used to be so outgoing and happy but the pressures Thelma put on him got too much. She demanded more money and when he could not produce what she wanted, she kept nagging him until he became so depressed. The strain was too much, and one day, he suffered a stroke and was rushed to the hospital where he died after two days.

We were heartsick over our son’s death. Thelma started partying after only a few months and soon, we heard she was dating another older man. I blame her for nagging Mario to death. Recently, I heard she was selling their house as she wanted to move to Manila to be with her new boyfriend.

I want to tell her what I really think of her. She ruined my son’s life.

Dear Angry Mother,

If you do confront Thelma, what good would it do?

It wouldn’t bring Mario back to life. I would advise you to keep your resentments to yourself. Sooner or later, karma will catch up with her and she will have more problems in the future.

Just keep on praying for Mario so he can rest in peace.
