A local government employee who was arrested last week for possession of ammunition and suspected drug paraphernalia in Victorias City, was released from jail Monday, after posting P120,000 as bail, Supt. Santiago Rapiz yesterday said.
The suspect, identified as Jon Romeo Legaspi, officer-in-charge of the Victorias City Slaughterhouse, is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as Section 12 of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Rapiz said the court has recommended P80,000 as bail for violation of RA 10591, and P40,000 for Section 12 of RA 9165, or possession of drug paraphernalia.
The raid Thursday last week at the residence of Legaspi in Canetown Subdivision, Victorias City, that was covered by a search warrant issued by Silay Regional Trial Court Judge Dyna Doll Chiongson Trocio, yielded 14 live ammunition for .22 caliber firearms and one empty shell, a twin magazine black pouch and three leather holsters, 20 plastic sachets containing alleged shabu residue, an improvised tooter, seven disposable lighters and several pieces of sliced aluminum foil.
Rapiz said ammunition and drug paraphernalia were also recovered in the vehicle of Legaspi, that was also covered by the search warrant.*GPB
