Operators of taxi and rent-a-car businesses in Bacolod City met with members of the City Police Office yesterday on the preparation for the MassKara Festival next month, BCPO deputy chief for operations, Supt. Jefferson Descallar said.
Descallar said preventive measures for incidents like carnapping, hold-up and robbery were tackled since these happened during the celebration of the MassKara last year.
For the 20-day festivity that will start October 1, they have prepared for the worst case scenario and asked for help from the public to report any untoward incidents immediately, he said.
Descallar said they consulted and talked with the operators to establish procedures and measures to pre-empt carnapping, hold-up and robbery incidents.
He said 3,231 policemen, traffic enforcers and volunteers will be deployed at the public plaza, Reclamation Area, Lacson Street, Government Center, Gaisano City Mall and at the Panaad Stadium.
He said of this number, 1,696 will come from the Police Regional Office-6 in Iloilo City.
A joint peace and security assistance desk, patrol cars, cops on bike and foot patrols will also be placed around the city.
Road closures at Lacson Street, from October 17 to 20, and at San Juan Street, will also be implemented to ensure the safety of visitors and Bacoleños, he added.*SGG
