JSY Countertrade plucks
Fil-Sino 35 & Below title

Third-ranked JSY Countertrade pulled off an upset as the team went on to topple top seeded AACI Transport, 71-55, to capture the 35 and Below championship of the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 2nd Conference Inter-Company Basketball Tournament played Monday night at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

A 10-point output from Ritchie Militante helped JSY Countertrade in establishing an 18-5 opening quarter lead but Transport drew closer in the second canto as Luigi Coo and Derek Sibug combined for 10 points.

Sibug and Robbie Jalando-on remained as the go-to guys for Transport in the third quarter but the trio of Countertrade guards Jappy Cuaycong, Mark Javelosa and Ervin Tan kept them at bay going to the payoff period at 56-49.

Defense played a premium in the fourth quarter as Sibug was kept in check prompting DK Equipaje to make his move and deliver 5 points as he carried the scoring cudgels for Transport.

But the effort was not enough to overhaul the double digit lead as Ortaliz scored 6 points to lead a balanced Countertrade offensive.

Ortaliz topscored for Countertrade with 15 points, Militante added 14, Cuaycong shot 9, Tan had 8 points, Jose Miguel Montinola and Javelosa with 6 points each.

Transport was paced by Jalando-on with 11 points, backstopped by Sibug with 10, Luigi Coo and Equipaje tallied 7 points each, and Badong Eufre and Joshua Lao finished with 6 points apiece.*
