Bacolod snatches 5 gold medals
in table tennis, chess, swimming

After two days of competition, host Bacolod City captured three gold medals in table tennis and one each in chess and swimming as the Batang Pinoy 2014 National Championships enters its penultimate day.

Swimmer Regan Joseph Garbanzos prevailed in the boys 12 and Under 400m freestyle to give the Bacolod City team its first gold medal, while Valerio Mangubat delivered the second as dominated the boys’ rapid chess competition.

Lopue’s Table Tennis Association paddlers John Michael Castro, Ann Gella Borbon, and Neil John Lauren topped their respective event to complete the host city’s five-gold medal haul in two days.

JSY Countertrade plucks
Fil-Sino 35 & Below title

Third-ranked JSY Countertrade pulled off an upset as the team went on to topple top seeded AACI Transport, 71-55, to capture the 35 and Below championship of the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 2nd Conference Inter-Company Basketball Tournament played Monday night at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

A 10-point output from Ritchie Militante helped JSY Countertrade in establishing an 18-5 opening quarter lead but Transport drew closer in the second canto as Luigi Coo and Derek Sibug combined for 10 points.

Sibug and Robbie Jalando-on remained as the go-to guys for Transport in the third quarter but the trio of Countertrade guards Jappy Cuaycong, Mark Javelosa and Ervin Tan kept them at bay going to the payoff period at 56-49.

Aquos I, Condura Ladies
eye crown in bowling tilt

Sharp Aquos I and ASSFBI Condura Ladies who have twice-to-beat advantage, are about to captur e the title in their respective divisions in tonight’s showdown among the top three teams of the Supplier’s Christmas Friendship Cup Open Trio Bowling Tournament at the New Top’s Millennium Plaza Alley in Bacolod City.

In the opening games at 6:30 p.m., seeded No.2 Sharp II and No.3 ESD Candles/ASSFBI will meet in a knock-out match for the opportunity to challenge Aquos I in men’s championship.

It will be Tiger Eye I versus Condura ASSFBI II in the women’s semi-final with the winner advancing into the final against top qualifier Condura Ladies.
