Degamo urges Negrenses
to be weather-conscious
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo yesterday urged Negrenses to be watchful over a low pressure area drawing closer to the Philippines that might develop into a storm this weekend.

Degamo asked the public, through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, to monitor weather updates in the media and be vigilant against the LPA that might bring in heavy rains, resulting in floods and landslides.

The provincial government is ready for any eventuality, and can immediately mobilize resources, Capitol sources said.

As of 4 p.m. yesterday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the LPA was estimated at 1,010 km east of southern Mindanao.

Forecast for the Central Visayas provinces, including Negros Oriental, includes moderate to heavy rains, with moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast over the weekend.

Coastal waters are expected to be between moderate to rough.*JFP
