Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday told the Negros Occidental policemen to sustain the campaign against illegal gambling and drugs in Negros Occidental.
Marañon issued the call when the police chiefs of the towns and cities of Negros Occidental, led by Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan, acting provincial police director, paid their annual new year courtesy call on him at the Capitol in Bacolod City.
Marañon said he told the police officials to continue to ensure peace and order in the province, as it is vital for progress, especially for the poorest of the poor.
The 11-point agenda of the provincial government continues to be geared towards improving the lives of the poor, he said.
He said illegal gambling worsens the plight of the poor, as it only makes them poorer.*CPG
