Escapee recaptured with guns
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

An escapee from the Salvador Benedicto police jail, who took the two M-16 assault rifles of the town police, was recaptured by pursuing policemen yesterday in Brgy. Blumentritt, Murcia, Negros Occidental.

Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan, Negros Occidental police director, said the recapture of escapee Rodel Llanes Marcon, that was a joint operation of the Don Salvador Benedicto police headed by Inspector Celjun Nemenio and the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, also led to the recovery of the two high-powered firearms stolen by the suspect from the police station.

Marcon, who is facing cattle-rustling charges, escaped from the Don Salvador Benedicto Police Station on Wednesday, when he was allowed by the police to relieve himself outside the police station, because the comfort room inside the jail was non-operational.

Worse, he took the two M-6 rifles and bandolier of ammunition issued to policemen assigned in Don Salvador Benedicto. His short-lived freedom ended with his recaptured at about 5:30 p.m. yesterday.*GPB
