The 36th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week will be observed July 17-23 in Dumaguete City to stimulate public awareness on disability issues and concerns that will strengthen the involvement of government and non-government organizations, a government press release said.
The celebration will start with a mass 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Cathedral, followed by a motorcade by partner agencies, local committee on disability affairs, and non-government organizations at 4p.m., in major streets of Dumaguete, the press release also said.
Other activities are simulation on mobility for PWD at Women’s Center - July 18; annual convention of the PWD at the Mangnao Beach resort - July 19; Tayada sa Plaza - July 20; free massage at Quezon Park, 9 a.m. July 21; skills training for PWD women in Purok Kawayan, Barangay Cadawinonan, July 22; jail visitation at the BJMP, July 23; and mini-Olympic at the City Gymnasium, July 26-27.
PWD focal person Rosana Duran is encouraging persons with disabilities to continue striving for the realization of their dreams, and cited personalities who became successful despite being physically challenged, the press release also said.
The celebration will ensure that all PWDs are given equal opportunities in all aspects of human endeavor to make their lives more meaningful and productive, the press release added.*
