The Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association Season 34 will open September 12 at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum in Bacolod City.
Member schools of the organization will gather at the coliseum for the opening ceremony that will usher the start of the sports and cultural competitions among the private schools in Negros Occidental.
Highly-anticipated match-ups in Season 34 will be in men’s basketball among the top four teams in Bacolod City with defending champion University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos eyeing to clinch a back-to-back title.
Hot on the trails of the UNO-R Rams are last year’s first runner-up USLS Stingers, and multi-titled West Negros University Mustangs as well as dark horse Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod Eagles.
La Salle remains the dominant team in both men and women’s volleyball as well as men’s football, while St. John’s Institute high school girls’ volleyball team is expected to meet a strong challenge from the Malot Lozada-mentored USLS-IS.
Meanwhile, the new set of officers of NOPSSCEA, led by its president Bob Bergante of USLS, took their oath before Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. at the Governor’s Office in Capitol yesterday.
The officers will serve the organization for two years.*NAB
