The opening of the annual product design competition of the Association of Negros Producers, called the Bulawan Awards, will be held Wednesday at the fountain area of Robinsons Place mall in Bacolod City.
Bulawan Awards chairman, Marinito Vito, said the competition aims to encourage ingenuity, creativity and commitment in product innovation, packaging and development of new market-driven products that are competitive in both domestic and international markets.
The participants will compete in the fields of home decors, furniture, food and garments and fashion accessories.
Judging and awarding of the entries will be 3 p.m. on Saturday with Bacolod City officials and Provincial officials expected to attend.
Meanwhile, a Fresh Products Buyers' and Media Forum will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at the ANP Conference Hall t help farmers improve their produce, ANP president Josephine Locsin said yesterday.
Locsin said that several years ago, ANP had partnered with a German Foundation in creating the OURFood program that was aimed to improve and upgrade the local food supply chain from the small farmers producing high value crops to food processors and establishments in preparation for the Asian Fair Trade Agreement,.
After a thorough groundwork, research and technical intervention, OURFood farmers in Patag, Silay Cuty and San Carlos City can now produce in regular volumes with assurance of quality, traceability, and food safety standards and certification, she said.*APN
