The Department of Agrarian Reform office in Negros Oriental is targeting more than 12,000 hectares of land to be distributed to agrarian reform beneficiaries until 2016.
For 2014, the provincial DAR hopes to distribute 4,970 hectares of land to 3,819 ARBs, while its target for 2015 to 2016 is to cover 7,385 hectares for 5,675 beneficiaries, under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.
The CARP scope for Negros Oriental covers 33,792 hectares of land, with a balance of 18,589 hectares as of December 31, 2010.
The DAR distributed 2,141 hectares to 1,456 ARBs in 2011, and 2,042 hectares to 2,108 ARBs in 2012, its records show.
In 2013, the target for land acquisition and distribution was at 2,050, and accomplishment was 1,553 hectares distributed to 1,193 ARBs, and a balance of 497 hectares up for distribution to 381 beneficiaries.
Documentation for the balance has been completed, and the Certificates of Land Ownership Awards are ready for registration.*JFP
