VMC launches 2nd art contest
Victorias Milling Co. announced the opening of its Victorias 2014 Art Contest, on the theme “The Vibrant Victorias: Ready for Globalization”, as part of its 95 th anniversary celebration, its press release said.
The tilt that is open to amateur and professional artists in Negros Occidental, was expanded into four categories; principally for schoolchildren in the elementary and secondary school levels of Victorias communities under its inter-school elementary and high school categories. The open amateur category is for all student levels in Negros Occidental, and the open professional category for bonafide Negrense artists, the press release also said.
The contest aims to give recognition to budding artists in Negros, and showcase their artworks in an exhibit to be held September 24 to October 3.
The three winners per category will be announced during the Awards Night on October 3. Huge prizes are at stake, and for the champions of each category, a computer showcase will also be given for their schools. The winning artworks will be featured in the 2015 calendar of VMA, the press release said.
Last year's grand prize winner, John Jezreel Lozada, a student of Don Bosco Technical Institute, was awarded a full scholarship and his school given a computer showcase. His entry titled, “Victorias...remains strong amidst the storm,” became the cover of this year's VMC calendar.
Posters and application forms will soon be distributed for the mechanics and criteria of the contest this year, the press release added.*
