Mayor Jose Max Ortiz yesterday said he is proposing two resolutions to further boost the economic grown of Salvador Benedicto town for the approval of the Northern Negros Natural Park Protected Area Management Board.
The technical working group of the PAMB has recommended that the 200-hectare area in Salvador Benedicto where the municipal building and other public and private structures are located be declared a buffer zone of the NNNP to be developed into a townsite, Ortiz said.
In line with this, Ortiz said his proposed resolution calls on the PAMB to declare the 200-hectare area a buffer zone and to grant the Salvador Benedicto town government the authority to develop it into a townsite.
This is without prejudice to the plan to have it titled in the name of the municipality, after considering the private or possessory rights of actual occupants to be resolved by the local government, he added.
A second resolution calls on the PAMB to authorize the Salvador Benedicto municipality to develop the Malatan-og Waterfalls, Alindahawan Falls, Barangay Kumaliskis viewing deck, and the area from the national road to the nursery site as tourists destinations, he said.*CPG
