The Green Core Geothermal Inc. generation company supplier is assisting the Tanjay sub-office of the Negros Oriental Electric Cooperative 2 in resolving the high percentage of systems loss of 20 percent in its coverage area, its press release said.
GCGI is implementing its assistance program in systems loss reduction to its clients. It was learned that the cooperative has a systems loss between 17 and 20 percent, which is more than the 13 percent allowed by the Energy Regulatory Commission, the press release said.
The team installed a mother meter in the 25 kilovolt-ampere and 37.5 KVA distribution transformers to compare the actual kilowatt consumption of consumers, whose kilowatt-hour meters are attached to the system, the press release also said.
Aloysius Santos of GCGI observed during the operation that it was essential to cluster and change the old and defective meters. The farther the meters were positioned, the higher the systems loss. Old and defective meters did not give out accurate reading, and the consumption not read by the meter reader also came out as systems loss, it said.
The cooperative replaced the old and flawed meters and clustered, and energy consumption was recorded accurately and systems loss was minimized through clustering, the press release added.*RG
