Comelec notes high turnout
of SK registrants in Neg. Or.

The Commission on Elections in Negros Oriental yesterday reported a  high turnout in the number   registrants  aged 14 to 17,   for the Sangguniang Kabataaan elections in February next year.

Records from the provincial Comelec Office showed that during the SK registration held September 20-29 this year, 14,639 new young voters applied  for voters’ registration.

Provincial elections supervisor Eddie Aba said this is a relatively satisfying outcome considering that the total number of new SK voters is higher than that of  the existing  ones  who will be deleted from the list after having turned or will turn 18 years old on or before the February 21, 2015 SK polls.

SP okays adjustment in pay
of community hospital docs

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Oriental yesterday unanimously approved a motion to adjust the paychecks of three contractual doctors  at the Community Primary Hospitals in far-flung areas of the province, and pay them for what  they did not receive  since July this year.

Governor Roel Degamo  had sought  the wage adjustment and for  the three  to be paid the same wages as those of doctors at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in Dumaguete City with  the position of  Medical Officer III.

The three doctors are Lorbie Yap of the Pacuan (La Libertad) Community Primary Hospital, Jenellie Bomediano and Genevieve Violeta, both of the Dawis (Bayawan City) Community Primary Hospital.

Erames requests
leave of absence

Councilor Saleto Erames said he is requesting for official leave of absence from the Dumaguete Sangguniang Panlungsod due to a lingering ailment, SP Secretary Arthur Fran Tolcidas said Wednesday.

Tolcidas said all referrals in the committees assigned to Erames will be temporarily handled by Councilor Franklin Esmena Jr., at the request of Erames.

Vice Mayor Woodrow Maquiling Sr. said Erames was recently airlifted to the St Luke’s Medical Center in Makati for treatment.
