MassKara traffic rerouting
slated October 16-20: TMU

A traffic rerouting scheme will be implemented October 16-20 in Bacolod City for the celebration of the 35th MassKara Festival, Inspector Roger Ong, Traffic Management Unit head, said yesterday.

At Lacson Strip, there will be road closures from BS Aquino Drive to 21st Street, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., and from BS Aquino Drive to 3rd Street, 4 p.m. to 6 a.m., Ong said.

Vehicles going south of the city should turn right of BS Aquino Drive, left to Aguinaldo Street, and left to 22nd Street going to Lacson Street, during daytime.

Northbound vehicles should turn right of 22nd Street going to San Agustin Drive, left of BS Aquino Drive, and right of Lacson Street, all the way to destination.

At nighttime, southbound vehicles should turn right to BS Aquino Drive, left of San Juan Street going to the North Capitol Road, where they can either turn left or right of Gatuslao Street.

Vehicles heading north should turn left of Cottage Road, right of Gatuslao Street, right of North Capitol Road, left of Aguinaldo Street, right of BS Aquino Drive, and left of Lacson Street, all the way to destination.

The traffic plans for the dance parade, grand float parade, and other closures in line with the festivity will be implemented at the downtown area, and these will be posted at the TMU account on twitter at @tmubcpo, and Tmu Trafficbcpo on Facebook, Ong said.

He said 172 field traffic enforcers and policemen will be deployed in the streets, and divided into morning, afternoon and night shifts.

Ong is appealing to commuters and drivers to cooperate and follow directions given by traffic aides since the rerouting is designed to decongest traffic.*SGG
