The Sugar Regulatory Administration, in collaboration with the Philippine Sugar Millers Association, is holding a six-day training on Energy Efficiency and Conservation in the sugar mills in Talisay City, Negros Occidental October 13-18, SRA administrator Ma. Regina Martin said yesterday.
The main lecturer is Professor Peter Rein, described as a world renowned sugar technologist who has more than 40 years of experience in sugar milling operations, and the author of the book Cane Sugar Engineering (Bartens, 2007). He will be joined by other guest and local lecturers who will speak on energy efficiency topics, a press release from SRA said.
The training was designed based on the operational aspects where energy efficiency and conservation measures are most critical and essential and where greatest benefits can be realized by the mills, it said.
Participants will gain in-depth and practical knowledge about the importance of energy efficiency in sugar manufacturing and the critical areas in the factory where energy efficiency measures can be adopted, the press release said.
They will also learn how to assess the energy performance of their respective operations, identify and recommend to management specific technology and measures to improve the energy performance of their operations, among others.
