‘End agony, finish road'
BUT LANDOWNERS WANT PAYMENT
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO
Residents of Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City, yesterday called on the Department of Public Works and Highways to finish the improvement of the Honorata Manalo Street (formerly Buri Road) to end their agony.
If the DPWH and the city have problems in terms of process or protocol, they should resolve it, Mandalagan Kagawad Aaron Abao said at a Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Public Works hearing yesterday.
Rayfrando Diaz II yesterday said he is resigning as Bacolod City Legal Officer effective August 30.
Diaz said this had been agreed between himself and Mayor Monico Puentevella, who will announce his replacement on Tuesday.
In his letter to Puentevella dated August 12, Diaz said “This is to formalize our agreement that I will serve as your personal counsel and focus on your urgent political and legal concerns in preparation for the 2016 local elections.”

Twenty-seven local government units in Region 7, among them two cities in Negros Oriental, are this year's recipients of the Seal of Good Local Governance, a mechanism which tracks the performance of local government units and to further strengthen accountability at the LGU level.
Department of Interior and Local Government Region 7 director Rene Burdeos made the announcement Thursday while attending the regular provincial conference of the department to tackle local DILG operations, and the peace and order public safety planning workshop among local government operations officers in Negros Oriental.
